Odell White helped lead Lenoir-Rhyne to national football prominence during his Bear career.  His total of 2,255 yards rushing put him 10th (at the time) on the Bears' career list.  He was chosen as the Carolinas Conference Outstanding Back during his senior year in 1962, during which he led the league in rushing and total offense as the tailback in the L-R single wing offense.  His 1,443 yards that year, which includes playoff games, was the most ever in a single year by a Bear.  White ran for 192 yards in the Camellia Bowl that season and was chosen the game's Outstanding Offensive Player in that 1962 NAIA National Championship.  He was a Williamson First-Team All-American that year as well.  After graduation, White was employed by U.S. Plywood for some 10 years as a sales representative.  In 1974, he helped form Gunpowder Development Corporation and was a proprieter of Granada Farms Country Club near Granite Falls, N.C.
