Wilmer Walker (Lenoir-Rhyne, 1977) was a four-year letterwinner for the Bears’ Football Team from 1973 to 1976 where he earned all-conference honors as offensive lineman three times (1974-76). In addition, Walker was a two-time All-NAIA District 26 First-Team selection (1975-76) and led the Bears to the first-ever South Atlantic Conference Championship in 1975. Walker was a key member of an offensive unit in 1975 which finished second nationally in NAIA in rushing offense (300.0 ypg) and total offense (433.8 ypg). Walker was an All-Lutheran College honoree and won the prestigious Lee Kirby “Team Before Self” Award in 1976. Walker also played two seasons of baseball for the Bears in 1974 and 1975. Walker earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Blue Ridge Bible College and a Doctorate of Theology from the Great Commission Theological Seminary in 1989. Walker has worked for Carroll Leather since 1993 and resides in Conover, N.C.
