Since graduating from Lenoir-Rhyne in 1963, Jim Wiles has traveled a steady road of athletic success. Â He's done this as a basketball coach, golf coach and as an amateur golfer. Â Wiles was an all-conference performer at LR from 1959-1963, where he scored 1,221 points. Â During his senior season, the Bears captured both Carolinas Conference Regular Season and Tournament crowns in 1963. Â Wiles coached at Anderson (S.C.) from 1968 to 1978, where his teams posted the highest winning percentage among the nation's JUCO ranks compiling a 248-65 record. Â Wiles success continued at Gardner-Webb, where he guided the Bulldogs to seven district playoff appearances and a district crown in 1981. Â His 12-year record at Gardner-Webb was 228-145. Â His love for the game of golf became apparent later in his career. Â He has won several regional and club championships but none bigger than the 1995 Carolinas Senior Amateur Championship.
