Since graduating from Lenoir-Rhyne in 1963, Jim Wiles has traveled a steady road of athletic success.  He's done this as a basketball coach, golf coach and as an amateur golfer.  Wiles was an all-conference performer at LR from 1959-1963, where he scored 1,221 points.  During his senior season, the Bears captured both Carolinas Conference Regular Season and Tournament crowns in 1963.  Wiles coached at Anderson (S.C.) from 1968 to 1978, where his teams posted the highest winning percentage among the nation's JUCO ranks compiling a 248-65 record.  Wiles success continued at Gardner-Webb, where he guided the Bulldogs to seven district playoff appearances and a district crown in 1981.  His 12-year record at Gardner-Webb was 228-145.  His love for the game of golf became apparent later in his career.  He has won several regional and club championships but none bigger than the 1995 Carolinas Senior Amateur Championship.
