Jerry Fox, a 1959 Lenoir-Rhyne graduate, was one of the best players ever for the Bears' baseball program. Fox, a four-year letterwinner (1956-59), and three-year captain, earned all-conference honors three times (1957-59) and All-State accolades twice (1957 and 1959). Fox also lettered two years in basketball (1956 and 1957) and was head junior varsity coach in 1958. Â After graduation, Fox played two years for the California Angels Baseball Team's Farm Club then became a standout fastpitch softball player. Â Fox played for two state softball champions (Valdese and Statesville) and was named to the All-State squad six times. Â Fox earned 1969 Iredell County Farmer-of-the-Year honors in 1969 and has been a member of the Methodist Church since 1949.
