Rick Barnes was a 1977 graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne and is the current Head Men's Basketball Coach at the University of Tennessee.   All told, Barnes has compiled a 635-349 mark (.645) in 30 seasons as a collegiate head coach.  He has made stops at George Mason, Providence, Clemson and Texas and has taken his teams to 22 NCAA Tournaments, six NCAA "Sweet 16" appearances and one Final Four in 2003.  He was named Big 12 Coach of the Year four times (1998, 2003, 2008 and 2014) as Longhorns mentor.  He was a three-year letterwinner on the basketball team and won the Captain's Award for Leadership as a senior.  Barnes and his wife, Cindy, reside in Knoxville and have two children: Nick and Carly.
