Rick Barnes was a 1977 graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne and is the current Head Men's Basketball Coach at the University of Tennessee. Â All told, Barnes has compiled a 635-349 mark (.645) in 30 seasons as a collegiate head coach. Â He has made stops at George Mason, Providence, Clemson and Texas and has taken his teams to 22 NCAA Tournaments, six NCAA "Sweet 16" appearances and one Final Four in 2003. Â He was named Big 12 Coach of the Year four times (1998, 2003, 2008 and 2014) as Longhorns mentor. Â He was a three-year letterwinner on the basketball team and won the Captain's Award for Leadership as a senior. Â Barnes and his wife, Cindy, reside in Knoxville and have two children: Nick and Carly.
