Steve Trudnak captured just about every football honor possible during his Lenoir-Rhyne grid career in the early 1950's. Â The Bloomsburg, Pa., native was an all-stater in high school and went on to make the Associated Press Little All-American team in 1952 after making honorable mention the previous season. Â The hard-running fullback was the Player of the Year in the North State Conference in 1951 and again in '52 and was named to the all-conference team three times and the all-state team for North Carolina collegians twice. Â Trudnak scored 282 points during his L-R career, a record that still stands, and tallied 119 points during the 1951 season, which stood as the top mark in the state for many years. Â He was Athlete of the Week in the state in 1951 when he scored all 20 points for the Bears in a 20-0 win over Appalachian State. Â Trudnak worked in the Gaston County School System and was a vocational guidance counselor at North Gaston Senior High School.
