Maya Grady (Lenoir-Rhyne, 2003) played four years for the Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Basketball Team (2000-03) and was one of the main players which helped turn the program around. Grady was a three-time All-South Atlantic Conference honoree (2001-03) and was named the 2002-03 SAC Co-Player of the Year and the 1999-00 SAC Freshman of the Year. As a senior in 2002-03, Grady guided the Bears to their first-ever conference tournament championship and subsequent berth in the NCAA Division II Playoffs. Grady was named the Food Lion SAC Tournament MVP in 2003 as well and ranks first in assists (640), second in steals (352) and ninth in points scored (1,284) on Lenoir-Rhyne’s all-time lists. Grady also led the conference in assists for three seasons and assist-to-turnover ratio twice and holds the school record for assists in a game with 16 versus Newberry on January 15, 2003. Grady is a second-degree Black Belt in Taekwondo who holds several South Carolina State Championships in Forms and Sparring. Grady played semi-professional basketball for the South Carolina All-Stars in 2008 and 2009 and is currently a Category Analyst for the Delhaize Team at Pepsico in Charlotte, N.C.
