Tyrone McDaniel (Lenoir-Rhyne, 1993) was one of the greatest guards to ever play for the Bears. A four-year letterwinner (1989-93), McDaniel established South Atlantic Conference records for all-time steals (293) and steals in a season (116). Â McDaniel, who guided the Bears to a 88-30 mark over those four seasons, was named to the All-South Atlantic Conference second team in 1992-93 and is one of 54 members of Lenoir-Rhyne's 1,000 point club (1,034). Â With McDaniel at the point, the Bears won a pair of SAC Regular Season and Tournament Titles and the 1992-93 squad, considered by many as one of L-R's best ever, advanced all the way to the NAIA National Quarterfinals. Â McDaniel has played in various professional leagues since his collegiate days including the American Basketball Association, Global Basketball Alliance, Chavis and a Venezuelan League.
