Mike Campbell was a member of a long line of great Bear single wing running backs to play during the Clarence Stasavich and Hanley Painter days of Lenoir-Rhyne football.  A native of Alta Vista, Va., Campbell came to Lenoir-Rhyne in the fall of 1963 with immediate contribution being speed and his long term contribution helping continue the Bears' winning tradition.  Campbell was a two-time all-conference, all-district and All-Lutheran squad honoree (1965-66) and earned NAIA Second-Team All-American honors in 1966.  Campbell led Lenoir-Rhyne to Carolinas Conference Championships in 1965 and 1966 and finished with 1,836 yards as a runner, passer, receiver and return specialist with a CIAC-best 72 points as a senior.  After spending a few seasons in the NFL with the St. Louis Cardinals and the Detroit Lions, Campbell went to work for the Prince William County, Virginia, school system.  Campbell was also principal at Stonewall Jackson in Manassas, Va.
