Jack Huss graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne in 1969, where he played his collegiate career for head coach and L-R Hall of Famer Hanley Painter.  Huss, a Rutherfordton, N.C., native, graduated from L-R as one of the Bears' best quarterbacks holding several of the school's passing records when he graduated.  During his playing career, the Bears went 28-9 and captured four Carolinas Conference Titles.  He was a four-year letterman in both football and baseball and was the 1968 recipient of the Football Academic Award.  Huss returned to his alma mater in 1972 where he served as an assistant football coach with the Bears before taking over the L-R helm in 1974 where he coached for six seasons.  In 1975, Huss' Bears went 7-3-1 and captured the inaugural SAC Football Championship.  Huss taught at R-S Central High School for many years and served as athletic director, head football coach and head golf coach.  Huss also coached at Hunter Huss and Richmond Senior High School and has officiated high school basketball games for over 40 years.   Huss was inducted into the NCHSAA Hall of Fame in 2014 and has been the Bears' Football Color Analyst since 2003.
