Daniel Willis (Lenoir-Rhyne, 2001) is one of the greatest players in men’s basketball history at Lenoir-Rhyne. A four-year letterman (1998-01), Willis ranks second in school history and third in South Atlantic Conference history in total points scored with 1,980. In 2000-01, Willis averaged 24.4 points per game and was named the South Atlantic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Year and Male Athlete of the Year. Willis was a three-time All-SAC honoree and was named to the all-league first team in 1999-00 and 2000-01. Willis was a 2001 NCAA Division II Lutheran College First Team and NABC Second Team All-American Willis, a 2010 South Atlantic Conference Hall of Fame Inductee, also played three years of baseball for the Bears (1998-00) and led the team in saves in 1998. Willis was Associate Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Va., for 10 years (2005-15) before moving on to The Citadel and his third year at the Charleston, S.C., with the same title.
