Perry Fewell (Lenoir-Rhyne, 1985) played and lettered four seasons with the Bears from 1980 to 1983 and was named the team’s Most Improved Player.  Fewell rose to prominence in the coaching ranks immediately after graduating from Lenoir-Rhyne.  Currently, Fewell is the Defensive Backs Coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars (2017).  Other NFL coaching stops for Fewell include Jacksonville (1998-02), St. Louis (2003-04), Chicago (2005), Buffalo (2006-09) as defensive coordinator and interim head coach, New York Giants (2010-14) as defensive coordinator and the Washington Redskins (2015-16).  Fewell has also been an assistant coach on the college level at North Carolina (1985-88), Army (1987, 1992-94), Kent State (1988-91) and Vanderbilt (1995-97).  Fewell won a Super Bowl with the Giants in 2011.  All told, Fewell has been a coach for 33 years including 20 seasons in the NFL.  Fewell is also a 2001 inductee into the Belmont Sports Hall of Fame.  Fewell and his wife, Kathleen, have two sons.
