Hank McCrorie was one of the top linemen in Lenoir-Rhyne football history. He capped off his four-year career by being named the Outstanding Lineman in the 1959 NAIA Eastern Playoff game, a 47-20 Bears' win over Southern Connecticut. McCrorie, who was a captain of the 1959 team that advanced to the NAIA National Championship game, also won the school's most signficant athletic award, the Voight R. Cromer Award. He also was named as the team's most outstanding freshman in 1956 and closed out his career in 1959 by being selected as the Bears' best defensive player. During McCrorie's four years at Lenoir-Rhyne, the Bears recorded a 37-4 record while outscoring their opponents, 1,488 to 342. After graduating from Lenoir-Rhyne in 1960 with a degree in business administration, McCrorie embarked on a very successful business career that continues today. He served as Group Vice President of Sales for the U.S. Pharmaceutical Group at Pfizer, Inc., a global health care company headquartered in New York City. He was his firm's District Manager of the Year in 1976 and was Regional Manager within the No. 1 region in the country. The McCrorie Center, a state-of-the-art, three-story building completed in 2002 which houses the football team, athletic training team, weight rooms and the College of Health Sciences, was named in his honor.
